Top 3 hikes in the Southwest of Majorca

When you are looking for a holiday rental in Mallorca, you already know you’ll come to spend some days on one of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterranean. The turquoise sea, the green colors of the Tramuntana mountain range or the small and hidden towns that are found throughout the island are part of Mallorca’s DNA!

At Bellmon Real Estate Agency  you can find holiday rental villas in the north and center of Mallorca, but today we go all the way to the other side of the island, to the Southwest area, to reveal the top 3 hikes of the Southwest of Mallorca.

Mallorca hikes: from Port d’Andratx to Cala Egos

Our first hike will be in the area of Andratx. This is one of the most beautiful hikes in Mallorca because it ends at Cala Egos, a beautiful and unspoilt cove of rocks and stones in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana. This idyllic hike begins at Puerto de Andratx. We recommend wearing hiking boots because you will go through various types of landscapes. After skirting the harbor through the Gabriel Roca Garcías Avenue, turn to a street called Aldea Blanca, where after walking for a couple of minutes, the Cala d’Egos path will appear. That’s where the hike starts. We will pass through a forest that has up and down hills and zigzags, but that will always keep us on the right track. This path leads directly to Cala d’Egos. And it will take us only one hour to get there. The reward is simply spectacular: a virgin cove in the middle of the Tramuntana. A dream!

Mallorca hikes: Sa Dragonera.

This tour includes one of our favorite hobbies: boats! As you probably already know, the small and unspoilt Dragonera island is the sixth Balearic island. It can only be reached by boat, so we leave Sant Elm in one of the boats which head to Sa Dragonera. The hike that we want to recommend is the one that crosses the island of Sa Dragonera. Sa Dragonera is a 4km island and you can take a hike of approximately 7 km.

We will start the hike at the information center of the Natural Parc and will walk towards the first stop: the lighthouse of Llebeig. Before reaching the lighthouse, we will find the Lleibeg tower. This tower was built in 1580 and is 14 meters high. After visiting the lighthouse, we go backwards until getting to Es Lladó. A sign show us the way to get to the Far Vell via Es Coll Roig path. The views over Sa Dragonera are imposing and impressive! After the Far Vell we head towards our last stop: the Far de Tramuntana. From there we have spectacular views over Es Freu, La Trapa and the Punta Fabioler. We go back to Es Lladó, where we end this hike through one of the most virgin areas of Mallorca.

Mallorca hikes: from Sant Elm to La Trapa

The last highly recommended hike will take you from Sant Elm to La Trapa. The total duration is about 2 hours and it can be done throughout the whole year. We will start at Plaza de Mossèn Sebastià Grau in Sant Elm, where the Av. De La Trapa will become the ‘Cami de Can Tomevi’. After about 10 minutes we will get to a point where there are two options, we will need to take the path on the left. Once we get to es Coll de Ses Ànimes we descend to the ancient monastery and begin the longest part of the route. We walked for an hour and a half towards La Trapa and stop at a viewpoint that we will find about 250 meters high, where we can see Sa Dragonera and Cala en Basset. After that we will find two curves and bifurcations that will lead us back to Sant Elm.
